The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. best budget robot vacuum and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Finally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
